Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

Founded in 1824, the RNLI has been funded by voluntary donations and legacies, and run wherever possible by volunteers. Since 2001 its lifeboat crews have saved in excess of 140,000 lives. A UK wide organisation, it has many lifeboat stations serving the seas around Scotland.
