Rosebank Field

Discovered in 2004, this giant field west of Shetland is projected to come on stream in 2018 with production anticipated to be in the region of 50,000 barrels of oil  and 100,000 million cubic feet of gas per day. In late 2013 Chevron, the lead partner, said that “current economics posed problems” but the other partners intend to press ahead. The Austrian company OMV has now bought out Statoil’s share for $2.6 billion to become the largest steakholder. In summer 2014 Chevron confirmed their intention to go ahead with the other co-owners to see completion of the field’s development.
