Harris Tweed

The tweed has been hand made in the Outer Hebrides for hundreds of years. In 1909 the Harris Tweed Association was set up to protect the brand. This was replaced in 1993 by the Harris Tweed Authority. The definition of Harris Tweed is as follows: “Handwoven by the islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Outer Hebrides, and made from pure virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides.
