Gaelic Whiskies (Praban na Linne) was set up on Skye by Sir Iain Noble in 1976. Their brands , the malt Poit Dhu, and the blends Te Bheag and MacNamara have been produced since then for them by other distilleries. Sir Iain died in 2010, but his dream of producing his brands on Skye became closer in February 2014 when planning was granted for a new distillery, Torabhaig, on the Sleat Peninsula.
